WHAT DOES THIS COURSE COVER?

We all know how difficult it is to have conversations with staff and colleagues about behaviour, attitude or under-performance. Without proper preparation and confidence, these types of conversations can undermine relationships and cast far-reaching ripples of negativity throughout the company.

So what’s an effective way to handle them? This highly practical session is designed to help managers tackle areas of conflict in a less challenging and more constructive way. For a start, making these conversations objective rather than subjective makes them much easier. We may not enjoy it but we get better at it!  Delegates will learn a structured and personalised approach to challenging conversations. At the end of the session, they’ll be empowered to return to work equipped with their own practical plan of action.

During this course participants will learn how to:

  • Set clear expectations

  • Handle difficult attitudes

  • Confidently have difficult conversations with staff and colleagues

  • Select the appropriate feedback tools

  • Spot what happens when their buttons are pressed and how to manage this

  • Increase emotional intelligence

  • Ensure the conversation is constructive

  • Prepare effectively for difficult situations
