Case study - Achieve stretching targets through developing managers
how management development programmes work
The challenge
Our client was a FTSE 250 manufacture with stretching business targets set by parent company. The Division’s Managing Director wanted to increase the leadership capability to support his managers and supervisors to achieve these.
As a result of our work
- The division is the highest performing division in the company
- The division survived closure where others were shut down; they also took over another poor-performing division
- The division''s Managing Director is now on the national Board of the company
What we did
3D Professional Development identified the key areas that were holding the management teams back, which included a lack of:
- Emotional intelligence
- Confidence
- An ability to prioritise and plan
- Staff accountability
- The ability to tackle performance issues
We then developed a programme to develop these specific areas for managers and supervisors at various levels across the company. Two programmes were delivered and we were asked to deliver a third programme at a site they took over.
